About us
Grace Community is a church in the northern suburbs of Perth. You can visit us here. We call ourselves Grace Community because grace is unique to Christianity. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone and so in recognition of God’s goodness, mercy and grace towards us we called our church Grace Community. Although we are a church we call ourselves a community because it carries greater connotations of connectivity, warmth and a commonality which is found in Jesus. People united in Jesus to hear of the love and truth of God from His Word and share it with others.
Grace Community was formerly known as simplyGod which was founded by Duane Olivier. Some of Duane’s teachings and recordings can be found on this website. Duane resigned from simplyGod in 2022 and unfortunately passed from this life in early 2023.
Duane instilled in all whom he taught that the Bible points to Jesus and as such every sermon should include Jesus, the cross and the redemption available to all who believe through faith in Jesus. Duane’s teachings always magnified Jesus as he sought to simply remove himself and let the Word of God speak as it should. Grace Community continues under the teaching of Isaac Moran, who was a close friend of Duane and was mentored by him for several years. We miss him dearly and look forward to seeing him again where we will worship Jesus Christ together and maybe enjoy a kite surf together.
GRACE COMMUNITY
IN A NUTSHELL
We believe and have experienced that human beings were created by God for God. The only way the human soul will be truly satisfied is to grasp the Truth of God – this is intellectually satisfying – and the Love of God – this is how our hearts are settled and at peace. We continue to discover the joy of being loved by God and we want to share God with others.
We are driven by the text of the Bible. Our passion is expository preaching, which means that we let the Holy Spirit do the talking as His words in the Bible are opened, explained and applied. In God’s word we continue to learn about His Truth and His love. Listen to Grace Community talks here.
We have our Sunday service, a ministry to youth and a ministry to kids which are all about teaching our community to know the truth about and the love of God from His Word, revealed fully in Jesus and made known to us by the Spirit.
We are a diverse community of people from different nations, backgrounds and across all ages. We warmly welcome all people to come and join our community as we worship Jesus, just as we will when we join the “great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “’Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!'” Rev 7:9-10
OUR CORE BELIEFS
Our core beliefs are based on the ‘Apostles Creed’ which Christians have always believed everywhere. We have other beliefs but these are not essential to being a Christian and therefore we do not divide from other Christians who think differently on these other beliefs.
We believe that there is only One God who is One in Being and who exists eternally in Three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These Three Persons are distinct but never separate. Each Person is not a part of God, nor an aspect of God, but each Person is fully God. For this reason, Father, Son and Holy Spirit are equally worthy of praise and adoration because they are One God. We believe in these Three Persons as follows…
We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who, in order to save us from God’s judgement that we deserve, became a man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the place of the dead. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead and take to Himself those who have entrusted themselves to Him.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who expired the Bible and who creates new life in people through the Bible changing them into the image of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirits primary role is to mediate the presence of Jesus Christ by living within God’s people empowering them to be Christians and do good works which God has planned for them to do.
We believe in the holy church, which is not a denomination or human institution, but an invisible unity of all Biblical Christians throughout all ages in all places.
We believe in the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and true life which begins now and lasts forever beyond physical death.
We believe all this because God has spoken and His Word has been written down and carefully preserved for all of humanity. This Word, the Bible, is inerrant and infallible in all that it teaches taking into account the normal ways in which language works.
We believe this Word of God to be fully sufficient and that no truth is necessary for salvation that isn’t contained in this Word.
